INTJ ... Introverted Intuition with Thinking

People with INTJ preferences are relentless innovators in thought as well as action. They trust their intuitive insights into the true relationships and meanings of things, regardless of established or popular accepted beliefs. Their faith in their inner vision can move mountains. Problems only stimulate them- the impossible a little longer, but not much. They are the most independent of all types, sometimes to the point of being stubborn. They place a high value on competence- their own and others.

Being sure of the worth of their inspirations, INTJs want to see them worked out in practice, applied and accepted by the rest of the world; they are willing to spend any time and effort to that end. They have determination, perseverance and will drive others almost as hard as they drive themselves. Although their preference is for vision they can, when necessary, focus on the details of a project to realize their vision.

INTJs often value and use confidently their intutive insights in fields such as science, engineering, invention, politics or philosophy. The boldness of their intuition may be of immense value in any field, and should nto be smothered in a routine job.

Some problems may arise from the INTJ's single minded concentration on goals. Theymay see the end so clearly that they fail to look for otherthings which might conflict with the goal. Therefore they need to actively seek the viewpoint of others.

INTJs may neglect their feeling values to the point of ignoring other people's values and feelings. If they do, they might be surprised by the bitterness of their opposition. An INTJ's own feeling values have to be reckoned with also, for if suppressed too much, they may build up pressure and find expression in inappropriate ways. Their feelings need to be used constructively, such as thru appreciation of other people. Given their talent for analysis, appreciation may be hard for INTJs, but they will find it helpful on the job a well as personal relationships.

To be effective, INTJs must develop their thinking to supply needed judgement. If their judgement is underdeveloped, they will be unable to critise their own inner vision, and will not listen to the opinions of others. They will therefore be unable to shape their inspiration inot effective action.

Paheli

What can I say, as soon as I realized M.M. Kreem had a new album out, I had been haunting my local Indian store. Today, as I got in the store, he had a smile on his face, couple mins later, I had Paheli's soundtrack in my hand… anxious to get out of the shop.

There are three music directors I buy music CDs of without even bothering to read the reviews, MM Kreem is the least prolific of the trio. I have heard the CD four times, end to end, since I got it. I have not skipped a single song (though I have repeated one of them). Amazing accomplishment, not a single song (including the one instrumental ) out of the 8 on the cd is 'skippable'. Lyrics by Gulzar (he still is a poet, tending more towards a wordsmith than a philosopher, but he's the best we've got).

Dhire jalna: reminds me of a concerto by Beethoven, you can hear the rain and the thunder ( not literally) by the lulls, crescendos and the beautiful themes that crossover and resonate … he uses Santoor and flute, best use of these since shiv-hari stopped directing music. And Sarod!!!! Sonu Nigam's voice is made bearable by the music, you almost don't notice it. Breath catches in my chest when the orchestra picks up… To be heard with volume as high as your ear drums will allow.… The song tells a story, in music ( not words)…I just hope that the picturisation lives up to it. Most definitely my favorite song so far.

Kangna re: Three voices so similar in timber; Madhushree, Bela Shende and Shreya Ghoshal…mellifluous is the only word to describe the combination of these voices:). Kalapini Komakali is the Ila Arun replacement, in my humble opinion, better than the original, her voice lacks the aggressiveness of Ila Arun. Nice mellow song with a medium paced beat.

Phir Raat Kati: features twice, Sunidhi Chauhan and Sukwinder Singh. Uma's favourite so far, hyper paced, very minimal music. Primary instrument one of those single strand ektara's played with the violin like bow, beautiful use of the voices and instrument..niether of which hides the 'imagery of the words' ( can't write hinglish, gotta listen to the CD) … Sunidi Chauhan tries out some vocal tricks.. which gain full approval from Uma :)

Laaga Re Jal Laaga : was waiting for it, only song which kreem sings in this album, unfortunately he sings only the opening bars. Full orchestra; tons of violins, good beat… It has jal tarang this time… he has used voices well, Shruti Sadolikar has a couple lines that add character like an unusual instrument… very well done.

Khaali Hai Tere Bina : semi ghazal-ish, reminded me what Hariharan was famous for, his voice. I do not believe anyone has gotten Hariharan to do a taan, beautiful, haunting… perfect. Hariharan has not done anything this beautiful, ever (or at-least in a long time) simple tabla and flute backdrop…

The amazing part about the entire album is the beauty of each instrument, each voice, how everything is perfectly framed … This guy is a master of all instruments, I did not hear synthesized music anywhere… pure instruments... all Indian , played well. Everything is exactly right, not too little and definitely not too much.. thing of joy( fine, I know I am going gaga.. but I haven't heard anything this beautifully done in a looong time... even Bunti aur Babli or Swades are a feeble second..)

Minnat Kare: three intermingled voices, reminded me of the teasing girl numbers from taal, virasat.. this is what they were hoping to become. Flute, ghungroo this time, tabla, sarod, sitar, veena, dholak, shehnai.. amazing!!!

Dhire Jalna, instrumental: This is one instrumental you actually want to listen to, sarangi, they say is the instrument that mimics human voice the closest… you can see why they say that, Beautiful.

the 'F' word

KID: "mommy"
MOMMY: "yes, sweetheart"
KID: "Amanda's mommy makes her, wash her mouth, with soap, everytime she says the 'f' word"
Scrreeech... as mommy grapples with the inevitablity of her five year olds' vocabulary expansion
MOMMY: "yeah?"
KID: "but, Mommy, 'flower' or 'food' aren't bad words"
MOMMY: "no they are not. Amanda must have different rules in her house..."
KID: " I guess so"

blogging

It is amazing how apt this media is... you can present your opinion unabashedly and anonymously, show a side of you that you hide or try on a new face...

The vignettes that Nora Ephron talked about in 'you've got mail' would fit in here (on the blogger) perfectly ...
the one about starbucks

The whole purpose of places like Starbuck's is for people with no decision making ability whatsoever to make six decisions just to buy one cup of coffee. Short, tall, light, dark, caf, decaf, low-fat, non-fat, etc. So people who don't know what the hell they're doing or who on earth they are, can, for only $2.95, get not just a cup of coffee but an absolutely defining sense of self: Tall! Decaf! Cappuccino!

or about one name people...

"Joe. Just call me Joe." As if you were one of those stupid 22-year-old girls with no last name. "Hi, I'm Kimberley." "Hi, I'm Janice." What's wrong with them? Don't they know you're supposed to have last names? It's like they're a whole generation of cocktail waitresses.

Ah, what a powerful way way to waste your time, and be politically incorrect.

Ficus benjamina 'Variegata'

It has been a month of giving in and accepting.

I have a green thumb (more like a sprouting thumb actually, everything I touch starts growing, which is not so good soemtimes).
Anyhow, the snob that I am, I never bought artificial foliage... silk plants are for lazy people, or people who can't grow things.

And then, I bought an artifical ficus tree. It has varigated leaves...

I had started missing the feel of indoor greenery, I don't have time to water it and spray it and take away all the dead leaves and keep moving it around the house till it finds the perfect spot. Perfect light, perfect heat and perfect mositure. I don't have the time to watch it to see if it is thriving or just surving. I don't have the time to talk to it, to touch it lovingly everytime I walk by ... so I gave in.

Now with my morning cup of coffee ( no sugar no cream cause it is yummy that way ) I look upon the ficus and sigh. It looks beautiful, if I squint so that the light is dim, I can almost believe it is real...
They make beautiful plants in china.

Hello; Again

Another monday morning, and I really don't want to work. It was a fabuluous weekend. It has been raining since last evening though. Not a downpour, a trickle; trickle of a leaky roof. I sit from my office and look at the 50 foot pines... clouds obsure the background... I can't see the lake beyond the pines. The clouds cover it.. but I know it is there, and the thought makes me smile. I wish, it was consistent though, I know there is a tommorow... that is going to be beautiful and I know that life is better than ever... yet, I can't seem to smile at the thought.
Last week after tons of considering and re-considering I started this blog. My journal gets too clogged up in details.. and I can't seem to write. This could be fun ... impersonal... far enough that I'll see the woods( and not focus on the trees)...
wish me luck.
